This week’s photo comes from Jamie Vondruska. Milwaukee Road’s 1-spot was filled by a speed demon of an Atlantic back in 1935. Back when steam engines on jointed rail ran in excess of 100 MPH between Chicago and Milwaukee. Here a Fox Valley Model’s Hi cools her wheels at the station in Caledonia, Wisconsin. It’s rare to find vibrant color photos of the original Hiawathas, but in N scale we can recreate history in living color.
